My name is Yokima Cureton, and I am running for the SC Senate, representing District 27, which includes Chesterfield, Lancaster, and Kershaw Counties. I grew up here. Life took me away from Lancaster to pursue educational and professional interests. But five years ago now, my husband Jesse and I returned home. We now live in a home on the eastside, once owned by my paternal great grandmother. I  love this area, but it is not perfect. It has always been aspirational in its sights. I saw & experienced the opportunities it provided. But I notice something has changed. 

 

I say enough with the career politicians and their empty promises. It's time for fresh blood and real change. I'm here to break the mold and deliver results, not just rhetoric. It doesn't make sense that we have settled for ignoring our neighbors’ struggles, and often their very existence. We have settled for absent and insufficient management of resources. We have settled for toxicity, a lack of integrity & accountability. The old ways aren't working, and it's time for a revolution in how we govern. I'm here to challenge the Status Quo, disrupt complacency, and push for bold, innovative solutions that actually make a difference for the people. We must take the opportunity now to positively impact the trajectory for our children, our children’s children, and future generations. We don't need another "check the box" elected official. Our communities deserve a visionary leader who listens and acts, and doesn't just talk. I'm committed to putting people over politics, and I won't back down from fighting for what's right.
