I am Yokima "Yoki" Cureton your next District 27, South Carolina Senator. I am not a career politician by a long shot. And I don't aim to be!
I am a fourth generation Lancastrian, roots run deep on both sides of my family. I am woman of God, a devoted wife, and a business owner. I have earned two master’s degrees, traveled the globe professionally and serve on Lancaster's Planning and Zoning Commission.
As a black woman married to a first generation immigrant to this country, the road to this moment wasn’t easy, and there won't be anything simple about defeating my opponent in November. Despite being new to state level politics, I bring a wealth of leadership experience and a fresh perspective.

WHO?
District 27
Chesterfield | Lancaster | Kershaw
I am running for the SC Senate, representing District 27, which includes Chesterfield, Lancaster, and Kershaw Counties. As a business owner and a woman, I recognize the unique challenges and strengths of these areas. In many cases it's the tale of two cities, the haves and the have nots. But for me, District 27 isn’t just a constituency; it’s home. And I am committed to being the unifying voice of truth that represents all residents of Chesterfield, Lancaster, and Kershaw Counties. It's not about us or them. It's about all of us collectively.
WHERE?
My Beliefs:
- I believe you have to get uncomfortable sometimes to get comfortable. Real change requires real effort.
- I believe a woman’s rights are a woman’s business. No exceptions.
- I believe public safety and protecting families are our highest priority.
- I will fight like hell for our children today because they deserve leaders who fight to protect their tomorrow.
- I believe that listening and responding to the needs of the community is not optional; it’s essential.
- I believe in term limits at every level and for every position in government. Time to clean house.
- I believe regional growth means investing in infrastructure and executing a vision for planned growth.
- I believe South Carolina has an obligation not to leave its vulnerable behind.
To get where we want to go, we can’t keep doing what we’ve always done. It’s time for out-of-the-box thinking. It’s time to challenge the Status Quo. It’s time for real change.
WHY?
I’m Yokima "Yoki" Cureton, and I’m ready to fight for you. Are you ready to join me?
Let's break the mold. Let's stop fighting each other and instead work together to create the South Carolina we deserve.
Join me in the fight for a better South Carolina.
